Commuting woes

topic posted Thu, April 3, 2008 - 1:59 AM by
Tonight it took 90 minutes for me to cross the bay bridge. I was in SF, and they blocked off all onramps except one one-lane onramp. All traffic out of SF going east had to go on one lane. That's why I'm up at this hour on a school night.

Thing is, I have plans to go into SF tomorrow too. I don't want to wait in bridge traffic again tomorrow.

Any suggestions how I can cut down my waiting to get on the bridge time?

Books on tape. Get one with a low drone of a voice. Once you pass out a few times, the time will pass like that <snap>!

I heard there are people in the Haight that are stuck in the 60's. Mebbe talk to them about whatever 'time machine' they are using.

Helicopter. Plus, think of the cool stuff you can do with the search-light thing on the bottom of the fuselage! Those hippy moon-bathers won't know what hit 'em!

Find a radioactive spider to be bitten by ... then you can web your way across anything at whatever distance you like.

Put an ad on Craigslist for a homeless person to carry you piggyback through traffic. When they're hopped up on meth they can do damn near anything!

traffic is a state of mind, and a function of how big and rugged your vehicle is.

get one of them fancy monster trucks with the 8' wheels, and just drive to work like you normally do, without the trappings of ordinary traffic and its puny laws.

Once again, I find myself pointing out the obvious. Stay home.
What's so important that you have to go to the city?
Cancel whatever it is, stay home, stay in bed, look at your walls. No reason to go out. Any time you "need" to go into the city, just repeat this. You don't need to excuse yourself to anyone. People don't have to understand. It's all about your comfort. Bed is good. City is bad.
