...stored a whole bunch of glass vases on top of the communal fridge at work, some of them right on the edge. Two fell and narrowly missed my head when I put my lunch in the fridge. I notified my favorite coworkers that there was a Workers' Comp accident waiting to happen in the breakroom, in case they're interested in a headache and a little time off the job, but is there anything else I should do?

Re: Some Idiot...
Thu, April 17, 2008 - 1:05 PMA coworker and I are trying to work out a skit where some vases fall on his head, I trip over the carpet trying to help him, we then fall back over the trash cans, knocking over somebody at the copy machine, somebody's leg flies up and knocks the emergency medical kit off the wall, and it falls back on my face as I'm lying on the floor. Then we all lie quietly on the floor, admiring the asbestos ceiling. -

Re: Some Idiot...
Thu, April 17, 2008 - 7:14 PMKeep those glass shards safe by keeping them in a cold, dark place. Place them in a box in the freezer. Label it 'Injury Can Ensue' or ICE for short.

Re: Some Idiot...
Fri, April 18, 2008 - 5:57 AMMy Dear Wicked One,
Worker's Compensation covers only accidents that occur on work time. Time spent in the break room is not considered work time, and as such, is not subject to WC. Keep this in mind the next time you try to have an accident. You are covered at all times by the Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance, Life Insurance, and your employer's Floating Holiday policy. -

Re: Some Idiot...
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 10:29 PMWait, doesn't someone in this tribe have the patent on that? Send them $5 for each vase you convert! (Checks only, please.) -
-
Re: Some Idiot...
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 7:44 AMI'm wondering if the bongs are actually good advice - it might become a better place to work. -
-
Re: Some Idiot...
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 4:37 PMYeah, the bongs would make really nifty monitor stands. -
-
Re: Some Idiot...
Sat, April 26, 2008 - 1:47 PMActually, you could convert the monitor, doing away with a need for a separate bong-device.
