I'm cooking a lobster tail for dinner. My usual test for doneness is the tail gets springy enough to really thwack a bystander, maybe knocking them unconscious for a few minutes. Trouble is, I'm alone tonight. How will I know when it's safe to eat?

Then I might as well throw it away. Or maybe eat it raw. What do you think? -

Re: A little tail
Fri, October 23, 2009 - 4:48 PMThe best way is just to take the live lobster and leave it on top of your radiator for about 72 hours.
The tail will be done. -

Re: A little tail
Sat, October 24, 2009 - 12:14 PMIf you're all alone, why not just microwave it?
Which, now that I think of it, is also good advice for how to get one's cat to snuggle more.
Actually, microwaving might be the answer to a whole host of questions.
Someone should write a book about it: "How I Learned to Relax, Stop Worrying, and Microwave." -

Good. I've been wondering how to trick Shekky into playing a request. I think microwaving just may do the trick. -

Re: A little tail
Sat, October 24, 2009 - 1:30 PMWith housepets, I need to make a small disclaimer:
Microwaving only works for about 48 hours. After that, you need to alternate with the freezer every 10 hours or so. -
-
Re: A little tail
Sat, October 24, 2009 - 1:36 PMOh. By that, I did not mean that you should alternate 10 hours in the freezer with 10 hours in the microwave.
But when your snuggle session is done, simply replace the pet in the freezer. It can be microwaved again for ten minutes or so when you're ready to snuggle again.
Microwaving a pet for 10 hours would be very bad for it. I hope no one thought I meant that.
For pets you're very attached to, you might want to invest in a deep freezer.
